Standard tuning A4 = 440 Hz. Pluck a single string in a quiet room.

How browser tuning works

The microphone captures your instrument; autocorrelation estimates fundamental pitch and maps it to the nearest note in equal temperament. Cents show how sharp (+) or flat (โˆ’) you are relative to that note.

Getting accurate reads

Play one string at a time, close to the mic but not clipping. Reduce background noise. Low E (~82 Hz) may be harder on laptop mics โ€” try harmonics or our 440 Hz reference tone.

Standard guitar strings

E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4 from low to high. When cents read near zero, you are in tune to A440 equal temperament.
